If you'll be cooking for a family you'll definitely want to check out the larger FG551 XL grill. I also found myself having to cook meals separately as the capacity is limited. That's acceptable for vegetables but could be a problem for meat like chicken wings. This meant I often gauged when to pull out the basket and dishes were met with a varying level of doneness. The Foodi's air fryer requires more time to cook than a standalone air fryer. While there's a lot to love about the Foodi, I ran into issues in a few cooking sessions. Once your meat reaches target temperature you get another visual and audio cue to remove the meat from the grill. At the halfway point the Foodi instructs you to flip the food, spelling it out on the screen in addition to producing an audible beep.
As your meal cooks a progress bar visually shows you the level of doneness and distance from the target internal temperature. You can use the front buttons to toggle Smart Cook, allowing you to select the meat type you're cooking and desired level of doneness.
Inserting the smart probe into the center of your meat sends the real-time internal temperature to the Foodi's external display.
